Netflix Chooses Spot-On Performer for Mr. 2 in One Piece Third Season
Baroque Works is geared up to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, though the real showdown won’t unfold until the next season, and a beloved, popular member has just been cast.
Netflix announced Tuesday that the talented performer is now part of the One Piece cast for the third season and will embody Mr. 2. This character has the ability to transform into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve touched with their dominant hand. The performer, who is identifies as non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will portray a interpretation of that character reimagined as non-binary identifying, instead of as a drag performer, in the live-action show, differing from the source material and animated series.
Escola will work alongside a number of new cast members tasked with bringing the group to the screen, featuring chief Mr. 0, played by Joe Manganiello, a talented actress as a key member, and an accomplished actor, who is also part of the lineup as the ruler of Alabasta.
Though Bon Clay is a key figure of the organization, the individual won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. Considering the second season set to cover the Little Garden segment, this represents a major departure in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could signal more adjustments to the story’s structure.
The actor’s combination of sharp comedic timing and emotional depth makes them a perfect fit for the role. In addition to their latest vocal work in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and multiple awards for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, highlighting the adaptability they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s widely praised roles.
The streaming service’s real-life One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
